It’s June 2^nd and I have until Friday, June 4^th to complete my journal entries and accounts payable for the year.  I am sitting in my sister’s home, two international border crossings and 265 miles from my home and office.  Even last year I would have been in a state of panic.

My niece/Goddaughter is graduating from high school tomorrow.  I drove my mother out here yesterday to attend her Mass of celebration.  While the rest of the family is at the senior awards celebration I am here (procrastinating a little!) working on my end of year.

Last summer IT at work replaced my PC with a laptop.  On this laptop is a remote access program where I can use the general ledger outside the firewall at Canisius College.  How cool is this?  The only thing I cannot do is print.  I will send the documents via e-mail to the Controller’s Office where they will input them and post to the GL.

I have a great set-up here in my kitchen office.  I have my personal lap-top where I am creating the journal entry forms.  I have my work lap-top connected to the GL where I verify numbers and balance budgets.  By Friday, working a few hours at a time, I will complete every entry except the ultimate budget balancing numbers which I will complete at my office on Monday.

All this work is getting done and I am still in my sweats several states away!  I don’t think George Jetson could have ever predicted this!
